Description

These two musicians from Goredema Village in the rural Chihota area of Zimbabwe play mbiras with extra right thumb keys – one has two, and one three, extra keys (but no extra left keys). The tuning is called mavembe or gandanga by others, but these musicians do not give the tuning a name, saying “all the mbira players in our village play this tuning”. Enjoy their versions of the mbira classics! [Total time: 79:29]
