Welcome to MBIRA Streaming, home of Zimbabwe’s traditional music!

MBIRA Streaming is our new service that lets you listen to our entire library of traditional Zimbabwean music, with all the features you expect from a streaming service, and more!

When you subscribe, you’re enjoying 28,000 minutes of music and Zimbabwean musicians are financially supported. If you can, pay more than the $20 minimum and support them more (payments over the minimum are tax-deductible donations). You can also give gift subscriptions.

MBIRA has created the largest collection of Shona music recordings in the world and provides essential support to over 300 traditional musicians in Zimbabwe on these recordings. Mostly mbira recordings spanning over 50 years, but also marimba, village singers and drummers, other mbira types, and ngano. MBIRA is a non-profit organization (NGO) devoted to supporting Zimbabwean musicians and instrument makers. No non-Zimbabwean musicians receive MBIRA recordings royalties.

Subscribe for yourself and/or give a gift subscription.

If you’re using MBIRA Streaming on a phone, Safari and Chrome browsers work best, but on a computer all browsers are fine.

If you live in one of the few countries not served by PayPal, which processes card and other payments for us, (sadly including Zimbabwe) ask a friend or relative in another country to give you a gift subscription to MBIRA Streaming. MBIRA is giving musicians in Zimbabwe who played on our albums free MBIRA Streaming subscriptions in January 2026.
