Description

When Cosmas Magaya plays the mbira, each and EVERY note is clear, shining, definite in its beauty. On this recording, made in 1994 in Harare, Magaya plays on Erica Azim’s mbiras – “MBIRA workshop pitch” nyamaropa on most tracks, and mavembe (gandanga) on tracks 7 and 8. Although the tunings have drifted a bit since then, this recording is still a valuable resource for mbira students able to learn from recordings! [Total time: 90:48]
