Description

Nyamaropa is one of the oldest pieces of the over 1,000-year old Shona mbira repertoire played in ceremonies – a deep and beautiful song. One interpretation of the title (literally ‘meat and blood’) is that it refers to the most ancient human ancestors, who ate raw meat and offered raw meat and millet beer to their ancestors by placing them under a tree.
