Description

Enjoy this early recording of these excellent mbira players, played on interesting tunings. Most of the tracks are duets played on samsengere tuning, a quite non-Western sounding tuning named according to a tuning naming system that indicates pitch only, based on sounds of insects, not intervals. Tracks 1, 2 and 11 are played solo by Simboti on a low-pitched mavembe/gandanga tuning mbira, and he plays solo on track 3 in samsengere tuning.  All tracks are joined by Assa Hakurimwi on hosho. Recorded by Richard Selman. [Total time: 72:57]
