Thomas ‘Sekuru Gora’ Wadharwa was Zimbabwe’s most famous and popular mbira singer for decades, known for his soulful vocals, and often hilarious lyrics…sung with a straight face! Here, the master singer and mbira player plays with friend and master mbira player Tute Chigamba on tracks 1-7. On tracks 8-14, Chigamba plays mbira with son Henry. Chigamba’s daughter Irene adds occasional vocals on a few tracks, and plays hosho on tracks 12-14 with one hand…while nursing her 2 week old daughter, held in her other arm!
