Description

So so soulful singing from Zimbabwean village women! Clapping and singing traditional songs, some of which are seldom heard these days, Dzepasichigare (“Of the ways of long ago”) Singers are 9 women aged 31 to 74, including the late Matilda Magaya (called VachiHera, as a respected woman of the eland totem). This group from the Magaya, Kwari, Mude, Kanamandari, Chipfuwa and Mutinhiri villages, in Chief Rwizi’s region of Mhondoro Communal Area, provide ample inspiration for the next generation to keep singing these important Shona songs. [Total time: 76:06]
