Description

Rocking drumming and traditional singing of the Korekore subgroup of the Shona – this one was recorded in the home village of renowned musician Tute Chigamba. The best musicians of 6 villages in the Guruve area came together for some outstanding drumming and singing. Drum rhythms include Mapfuwe (tracks 2, 3), Mangwingwindo (track 1), Kupembera (tracks 4,6), Yemashave emapfeni (track 5), Ndembira (track 7), and Chinyamusasura (track 8). In the download edition, get much longer tracks 4 and 8, which had to be shortened to fit on the CD (about 18 extra minutes!). [Total time: 79:02]
