Description

The late Mondrek and Erick Muchena on mbira, with joyous vocals from Mondreck and his wife Francesca. This recording was hade in Mondrek’s house in Highfield, Harare, when it was half-built, during a thunderstorm. The musicians sat on pieces of sewer pipe, and the microphones were balanced on construction rubble, to the light of a single candle. As the house had no windows yet, neighbors heard the music and came over to dance and play hosho. [Total time: 64:44]
