Muchenje Dongonda Mbira by Leonard Chiyanike
1 in stock
7″ (18 cm) wide board with 7 3/4″ (19.5 cm) key spread, 24-key mbira with many bottletop buzzers and wired construction, wide keys, rich tone. This tuning is exactly one octave higher than Dambatsoko, and dongonda refers to the right hand keys (except the lowest) being an octave lower than usual. This tuning is beautiful played together with a Dambatsoko mbira, as the right hands interlock in the same range, while the left hands are an octave apart. Note: Photo is typical of this maker and tuning, however each mbira is individually handmade and may look slightly different.
