Description

Muka tiende, also known as Bukatiende, Bhuka tiende and Mukai tiende, is an ancient Shona mbira piece played in ceremonies. The name means ‘Wake up, let’s go!’ This piece is often played in the hours before dawn at an all-night ceremony, to encourage the participants to stay awake, and to bring the spirits one more time before the ceremony ends. This collection includes versions played in mavembe, also known as gandanga, tuning. [Total time: 78:42]
