Description

Zvichapera, also called Mbirimo or Mbirimi, is a traditional Shona vocal song which has been put to mbira by some musicians. Zvichapera means “This too shall pass”, literally “Everything will have an end”. This collection includes various recordings in nyamaropa and njari makonde (nyamaropa dongonda) tunings by Newton (Gwara) Cheza Chozengwa, including a duet with Tera Kutya. The recordings in mavembe (gandanga) tuning are solos by Forward Kwenda, some with responding vocals by Erica Azim. [Total time: 84:16]
