This recording evokes the timeless pace of the African village. Jekanyika is a rural Mhondoro Communal Area group with a relaxed tempo, confidently solid style, and typical vocals. Enjoy their tuning – nominally nyamaropa tuning, but less influenced by Western intervals than urban groups, so the tuning flavor is more Zimbabwean. Close your eyes and smell wood smoke from the kitchen fire…imagine dancing under a thatched roof… [Total time: 63:11]
